Kendo players swim with the use of a flexible bamboo sword (shinai) to hit the target on the opponent's protective clothing. Basic attacks in kendo:

Men
Men attack on the opponent's head. The sword is lifted up to the top of the head then swung to the head of the opponent. Seangan men is the most basic attack in kendo. Kendoka novice is highly recommended to expedite this one attack. Another variation of Men is Sayu-Men. In Sayu-Men, the attack is directed to the opposing temple both the left temple and the right temple.

Kote
The Kote attack is aimed at the opponent's right hand. The part of the targeted hand is the area around the wrist. Same with Men, to perform a kote, a kendoka also raises his sword up and swings it toward the opponent's kote. Kote Attack is usually a second attack technique taught on kendoka after learning Men.

Do
The Do attack is aimed at the opponent's stomach. The Do attack is also done by lifting the sword upward and then directed to the left side of the opponent's abdomen (the viewing angle of the attacker). After the Sword touches the chest / belly, the Sword will be withdrawn with the aim of splitting the opponent's stomach. At the beginning level, Do Do's punches are done with 2 movements, but as the experience increases and the skill of a kendoka, the Do attack will become a clean cut. The Do attack is probably the most difficult technique when compared to other basic attack techniques.

Tsuki
Tsuki's attack is a puncture to the neck. Tsuki usually began to be taught to the middle-level kendoka. Tsuki is not taught to the novice kendoka, because this attack is very dangerous when missed.
In practice, these four basic attacks will be further developed into a series of more effective attacks. But to get the exercise, it takes effort and time is not short. The beginners kendoka will be more sharpened its ability in doing basic attacks first. And this process is unfortunately not short. Perhaps this is what causes the beginners kendoka fingers because they are constantly trained basic attacks only. many of the novice kendoka who do not get what they want eventually stop practicing kendo. This is very natural and often occurs in all kinds of martial arts.
