One of the quickest ways to get integrated into a society is through speaking the local language. Let's Talk from Swedish lozenge brand Läkerol connects those who are fluent in Swedish with people who would like to practice the language by talking. In the app, people are connected from mutual interests and can then choose to use the chat function, voice call or video call. You will become so called “language buddies”. The app is completely free and there is nothing in the app that costs.

Our aim is to make more people who are new to Sweden feel welcome, and have the chance to learn the language as quickly as possible. We are not saying that the app is the solution to this, but a contribution. At the same time we want to make it easier for locals to positively contribute to greater integration. We believe that small talking to one another can make a big difference.

How does Let's Talk work?
Let's Talk connects those who want to practice Swedish by talking with those who are fluent. The app pairs people, in as great extent as possible, by mutual interests. You can also select to be paired only with people of your gender. Once you are connected, you can talk by using the mutual chat wall, voice or video. You can add more language buddies once you are connected to your first. We use Facebook to log into the app, but the only information that is mutually shared is your first name.

What does being a language buddy mean?
For a beginner at speaking Swedish your language buddy is there to help you speak the language. The language buddy should not be expected to do any other services than that, like helping out with Swedish authorities and such. To be a language buddy in the Experienced category no prerequisites are required other than that you consider yourself to speak the language comfortably. You will only be expected to teach Swedish by talking it.

The app is available in Swedish, English, Arabic, Somali, Tigrinya, and Sorani.
