The draft of the new Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) was approved on Tuesday (June 1st) by the committee of jurists in charge of processing it. The goal of this work is to modernize the CCP, a law of 1973, so as to ensure greater speed and consistency in the processing and trial of cases of a civil nature.

next Tuesday (8), the draft will be delivered to the president of the Senate, José Sarney. On the following day, the minister of the Superior Court of Justice Luiz Fux - who had chaired the commission of jurists - will discuss the proposal with the members of the Commission of Constitution, Justice and Citizenship (CCJ).

Fulfilled these steps, the draft will be read in the Plenary of the Senate, transforming, then, into the bill. The proposal will be forwarded then to the examination of a special committee of 11 senators, where it will be discussed and eventually modified by the amendments.

After voted by the Plenary of the Senate, the design of the new CPC goes to the Chamber of Deputies, where also will be reviewed by a special commission. If the deputies approve changes in the text, he returns to pass through the sieve of the special committee of senators. Although the Senate is usually the Home review, this case will give the final word before the project following the sanction of the president of the Republic.
