Many movies about the Three Kingdoms or Game of Thrones include scenes where a flat map is displayed with arrows pointing in different directions and the commander-general of each wing. This is the same for historical movies about World War II— except with armies instead of planes. The divine map displays friends, enemies and allied forces in various ways. Moving the map involves dragging to change locations on the canvas. This allows players to easily transport units to attack or defend against enemies. You can rearrange cells into different formations by dragging and connecting nodes. Each military unit moves in a different direction. You can move or attack each small unit during your turn. Per the rules, you can only choose one option — movement or an attack — when taking your turn. Additionally, announcements made early in the turn may announce exceptions to these rules.

The game has two play modes that change based on the war's current circumstances. In the popular game mode Conquer World, players must choose a country to command and fight against all enemies around the world. achieving victory is when players defeat everyone on the planet. There are several World War II battles you can play through in Military Career mode. This mode features a simpler story and more localized interactions. Additionally, choosing to play as either side allows you to experience each battle from that perspective. World Conqueror 3's two map types are flat maps and topographic maps.
