Introduce Beholder about.

Luxurious trust and freedom have never been more common.

Pleasures such as freedom can be overindulgent.

It's easy to take our freedom for granted. Many people can’t find peace even when they look hard for it their whole lives. That’s because they haven't seen what it looks like when a country is invaded and its people are pushed into chaos. Movies only depict this horrible reality; real-life invasions aren't that uncommon. What should we do if we find ourselves in such a precarious position? Play Beholder to determine the answer. Forced from their homes and imprisoned, the people of a country live in fear of their lives. In the midst of this oppression, the people are denial of their freedom to live by the ethical standards they set for themselves. Instead of protecting the people and eliminating their injustices, the country's leadership and management classes use force, coercion and other tricks to strip citizens of their freedoms. Any movements or ideas in opposition to the state are recorded and reported. Anyone revealing thoughts of revolt is immediately arrested and kept in indefinite detention or executed. No one knows where someone arrested is imprisoned; many believe they are dead. He vanishes as though he never existed; needless to say, he’s imprisoned.

The story is much darker than you expect.

As a middle-aged man with two children and a wife, Carl has a happy family life. However, the government doesn’t have enough manpower to support their goal of totalitarianism. So they choose to use henchmen instead. These people are secretly deployed in different regions across the country. Someone new controls an old apartment building. People know that the previous controller resisting the government regime was eliminated. You have to keep track of every resident in the apartment complex by listening, observing, monitoring and trapping them. If someone suspects anything, they should inform the authorities immediately. Carl needs to ask each person he comes in contact with a number of questions about their hobbies, personal information and more. His role as a building manager requires him to constantly report these findings to his boss for further analysis. In addition, Carl is forced to study people's backgrounds, personalities and intentions by naturally observing their behavior. Carl needs to become a real loyal dog in order to earn a salary and gain credibility. This is because dog owners observe, search and learn from information through books, pictures, documents, and other means. Some of these methods are surreptitiously carried out without the dog owner's consent. Consequently, this makes Carl a legitimate source of information. In the game, you’ll be tasked with monitoring the comings and goings at an apartment complex. You’ll also need to purchase tracking devices to locate all information, images and documents relating to the tenants’ thoughts on an upcoming event. From there, you’ll need to enter their offices and monitor each employee’s actions. Carl struggled financially because he had to support his family. Consequently, he didn’t have much money and was always pressed to earn more. Even so, Carl had to consider the needs of his family, their morals and conscience, and even basic material needs before deciding on a course of action. Adding these considerations allows you to determine what you need to work on. For example, buying a hearty family meal for the weekend or purchasing a tracking device with the funds would be the correct course of action. Alternatively, using the funds to host a small party and inviting nearby tenants would help you gather intelligence. It's important to flawlessly execute your devious plans without endangering your wellbeing. At the same time, you shouldn't oppose your superiors' orders even if you come up with some brilliant ideas.

Should one follow orders or express sympathy?

You live in agonized confusion between love and logic, between honor and humanity. You know you must incur personal expenses with your decision, yet only one path remains. That is to unquestioningly follow your superior's commands. You feel sympathetic toward the oppression suffered by anyone who loses all personal freedoms. The alternative realities in this game are dim and unpleasant. People working with the government always struggle to escape their situation no matter which decision they make. This makes it difficult to say who wins or loses when playing this game. Carl can end up in prison for embezzling, failing to perform his duties or even being killed or beaten by the police. It's important to be comfortable with your conscience.

Add rich visuals and sounds to your work.

The Beholder game is extremely dark and hardcore. The long roads, dismal walls and black figures wandering around make everything in the game look like a lifeless corpse. Listening to the dreary squeal or gazing at the pictures conjures the anguish of this place's inhabitants. Black, white and gray are the colors that predominate. People's eyes, chins and mouths are obscured by a faint shadow, but little else registers on the eye. Anyone can be a government informant, anyone can serve as a government snoop; all it takes is a blank stare and absence of color. When you live this way, you can't trust anyone or anything. That's why each game step happens sequentially. When people and things crowd me too much, I feel like I can't breathe. Most often, this feeling is caused by my encounter with overwhelming visuals and thoughts. Make sure to read part 2 of Beholder, titled "The Viewer."

Carl and his family now live in their new home.

In Beholder, players observe a setting set during a dictatorship. Many rules and laws inhibit people's freedom in this context. Carl and his family are allowed to live in this setting.charming apartment.
